Maybe the cable going into the brickwork is linked to a set of small explosive charges at one end, and the fire alarm at the other. Set off the fire alarm and "boom" you have a fire exit!
It'd certainly make for interesting fire drills. |

My employer just switched the official shipping company from company "A" to company "B"...effective immediately. One could imagine the same happening at Cisco. Those EULAs were pre-packaged for "FedEx" shipment & the shipping people were a bit lazy, I suppose. |

There was an old lady who swallowed a cow.
I don't know how she swallowed a cow! She swallowed the cow to catch the goat... She swallowed the goat to catch the dog... She swallowed the dog to catch the cat... She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ... She swallowed the bird to catch the spider That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside her. She swallowed the spider to catch the fly. But I dunno why she swallowed that fly Perhaps she'll die. |

Most Ciscos run IOS, a custom OS for their devices. So yes, when you buy a Cisco device, you're also buying (or rather licensing) software. |

Either that, or FedEx was just too lazy to find the delivery address, and dropped it off at a UPS Store. True story: When I still lived with my parents, we got something delivered by FedEx. FedEx is apparently too lazy or stupid to get the rural route maps used by USPS and UPS, so they stopped at the post office and mailed it. So much for second-day-air. |

It would seem that the whole sponsor thing paid off for me today. I was looking for a webhost (with scaled plans) that would let me install my own software and pay by the month in order to test the first stages of my application since I'm a poor college student and my school blocks almost every incoming port somewhere in front of my pipe, and WebFaction looks like it'll work out for that. Good job Alex.

Probably being shipped to a location where Fedex doesn't go. In Canada, Fedex envelopes are shoved into Canada Posts Priority Courier boxes to be sent to places like Iqualit (spelling?) |

All the first picture shows is that some authorities perform more thorough safety inspections than others. That much should have been fairly obvious, as shown by incidents like this one in Manila.

I used to do shipping and receiving for a custom computer shop. It was actually pretty common to see FedEx packaging inside UPS, or vice versa. Most shops had some of each type laying around and weren't picky about what they put stuff in - if it was the right size, in it went! I was handed a FedEx box by UPS more than once. The triple-layer packaging is bizzare, though.

The fire exit previously had a door with a sign that said,
"This door must be kept closed at all times!" Facilities finally got tired of people disregarding their sign. |

I once worked at a government shop where we had a group of four offices on a corridor. Due to fire regulations, the suite had a heavy, opaque, masonry-lined fire door rated at two hours. Also due to fire regulations, the door opened outward (into the corridor). From the inside, you couldn't tell if anyone was walking down the corridor. After several people were hit by the heavy door opening unexpectedly, the safety issue was corrected. Maintenance cut a big hole in the very solid fire door and installed a plastic window with a fire rating of about two seconds.
